St. Martin Dining
Where shall I dine? On this island, this can be one of the easiest questions to answer. One can choose the Gourmet/Creole cuisine famous on the French side city areas of Marigot and Grand Case. The other extremes are fast food vendors like Burger King, Pizza Hut, Subway, or KFC. The native equivalents of these fast foods are just as good. The famous "lolos" of Grand Case, small roadside restaurants offering grilled meats, fish, and locally prepared side dishes, at very low prices, are a great bet. This same type of food vending may also be available at other remote beaches. In between, there is every type of cuisine and atmosphere or local color to go along.
St. Martin Night Life
There's never a dull moment. From hotel barbeques to the European-style hotels on the Dutch side to the shopping and night clubs, St. Maarten purports a lively atmosphere 24 hours a day. While the discos exude an international feel, the casinos are tame and contain the sophistication of the Old Country. The Casino Royale is the island's largest casino while several other casinos (such as the Rouge et Noir and the Coliseum Casino) are located off Philipsburg's Front Street . If gambling isn't for you, the Maho Beach Resort also has a comedy club, which offers shows Wednesday thru Sunday. The possibilities are boundless.
All casinos are located on the Dutch side. Three are in downtown Philipsburg and one is in the Great Bay Hotel, also in Philipsburg. The other four are located in the Simpson Bay area up to Cupecoy near or in major hotels. All offer slot machines and all table games. Rules vary from other major casino destinations. Always check before putting your money down.
